Introduction

This collection of evidences is designed for all readers. For the active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it presents documented evidences to enrich their testimonies. It gives substance to those who have taken for granted that the Church is true. For investigators, it provides resource material that will help lead to a testimony. The array of evidence will stimulate the minds of those who have been indifferent. Skeptics, who are open-minded enough to review the material, will find it difficult if not impossible to explain away the great weight of evidence. And it will answer charges of those who have openly criticized the Church.

Our Heavenly Father expects us to do more than just to ask each time we lack understanding. Moroni (10:3) reminds us to “ponder” these things in our hearts before asking God for a manifestation. Some have presumed that exercising faith is not an intellectual function. However, the prophet Joseph Smith taught differently: “when a man works by faith, he works by mental exertion…” (See Lectures on Faith, Number 7, Section 3.)

That purpose is to “endure to the end” (Matthew 10:22) while being tried and tested in our obedience to God’s commandments, in order that we might prove ourselves worthy “to be accepted by the Lord at the judgment” (2 Corinthians 5:9-10) and have life everlasting (John 12:50).

The means to prove ourselves has been disputed for centuries. Since the consequences are so serious and long lasting, it is vitally important to make the correct decisions....
